Our new New Year... A new year, a new vicar, a new grouping of parishes working together; already the year 2012 looks to be a time of new beginnings. We have much to look forward to as we begin the countdown to Andrew, our new vicar, taking up his post at his induction service on 16th April.
Meanwhile, the day-to-day life of the church goes on and new ideas are being developed, eg the concept of a garden within the churchyard and further Alpha or similar type courses.
On a minor note, while the current web novice who is keeping the website on the road will not grow up to be a ‘webmaster’ overnight, hopefully he (the writer of this section) will build his capacity to refresh and update all the website pages. We’ll see!
For more information on what is going on please see details in our Monthly Update and Weekly Noticesheet in the Downloads section to the left of this notice.
And as always, everyone is warmly welcome to any of our services.

Welcome to this web-site for All Saints, Driffield and St Mary's, Little Driffield in the heart of the beautiful Wolds of East Yorkshire. We live in a part of God's creation that is unspoilt in its beauty and rich in its capacity to produce food. The town of Driffield , called the ‘Capital of the Wolds ' has long been associated with Christian life and activity. It was a centre of Methodism and boasted many chapels as well as three Anglican Churches.
There is an air of expectancy as we wait to see where God is leading us in mission and ministry to a fast changing town and its hinterland. This web-site simply shows where we are, and hints at where we may be going under God's guidance. We look forward to the future with confidence in God good grace. Finding your way around the web siteThe buttons at top-right give you quick access to useful information, such as our Pattern of Worship, or choose Location which shows you where to find us. Up and to the left you'll find a box with many links which guide you around our site telling you more about Our People, Our Life and Our History. There are also some very useful links to other sites, such as the official Church Of England web site. |
A NEW VICAR FOR DRIFFIELD & LANGTOFT PARISHES On Sunday 18th December it was announced in our churches that the Rev Andrew Ison is to be the new vicar of All Saints’ Driffield with St Marys’ Little Driffield and St Peter’s Langtoft with Foxholes, St Nicholas Butterwick, Cottam and All Saints’ Thwing. This is a new grouping of parishes to be held by a single vicar. Andrew is currently Anglican chaplain of St James Voorschoten in the Netherlands. He and his family will take up residence in Driffield shortly before Easter. Andrew will be instituted into his new post on 16th April. In a message to the churches the Rev Andrew Ison writes: “Andrew, Julie, Emma and Clare are very happy at the thought of becoming part of your community. We are praying for you and we trust that you will be praying for us as we embark on this new journey together”. Rev Carole Aconley, Self Supporting Minister serving in the Langtoft parishes says:
‘We are very much looking forward to welcoming Andrew and his family to our villages and to working in partnership with him." Peter Reed, a churchwarden at All Saints’ Driffield says: “After being without a vicar since July 2010 we in the two Driffield parishes are looking forward with great excitement to beginning a new chapter in the life of the church in our community”.
